You Don't Have To Spend A Fortune On Entertainment

Welcome to my blog. My name is John Maxwell. During the great recession, a lot of my friends found themselves struggling to pay the bills. The idea of spending money on entertainment became unthinkable. But there was a serious consequence to this. My friends saw less of each other. As a result, I went journey to find the most inexpensive or free ways of entertaining friends while still having a great time. Even though the great recession has long since passed, I believe that much of what I learned can still be useful. You can never save enough money on entertainment.

Scary Movies Abound Online—And Some Might Not Be What You Expected

You know you don't have to wait for Halloween to watch scary movies, but it can be tough to figure out what to watch when faced with the huge libraries of horror films that many streaming services offer. It gets even harder when these services add and drop films quickly. Finding the best scary movies on Netflix and other services can result in hours of great entertainment, but you need to figure out how to search for these titles. Sometimes browsing the horror category works, but other times, you need to branch out with your searches.

Look for Blended Genres

These services are pretty good at cross-indexing, but just to be sure, check not only the horror category, but also fantasy, science fiction, and more. You'll find marvelous films that are more about fantastic worlds with an undercurrent of horror that comes from the humans instead of the monsters populating those worlds. Remember that horror is what you deem to be scary, and it's a term that covers everything from traditional slasher flicks to psychological games. If you don't feel like watching the "usual" types of horror films in your queue, look at other categories to find some nicely blended genres.

Try Foreign Cinema Other Than What You Usually Watch

Watching non-U.S. movies is no longer that outré, but chances are there are some non-U.S. cinemas you concentrate on and others you haven't seen. Maybe you watch a lot of horror movies from one part of the world where the scares come from ghosts and vampires, but you're unfamiliar with the horrors of hauntings and possessions by djinn. If you look at other international genres, you could find some new favorites.

Revisit Old Favorites

Streaming services had a lot of classic horror films playing during the last months of 2020, and while some of those terrific films have already left, others remain. If you can't think of anything else to watch, maybe it's time to go back and see some of the true classics of the genre, those that gave rise to franchises that serve as virtual film dynasties. Films like these are wild and offer scares that you already know are coming but that still make you jump – and then keep you glancing warily at dark corners and any woodsy areas nearby.

Load up that queue and start watching while these films are still online. Sometimes a scare is exactly what you need to feel better.
